Almere Consulting is the trading name of Almere Limited. Managing Director Tom Bailey MRICS MCIHT is a Chartered Surveyor with experience spanning investment banking to residential property development. In the North East Tom has managed projects for international property consultancy firm GVA and more recently for regional regeneration specialist Buckley Burnett.
Tom led the North East England infrastructure delivery programme for sustainable transport charity Sustrans from 2012 to 2015. During this time he was responsible for delivering £12 million per annum sustainable transport projects across the region achieving a step change in the quality of design. Tom secured the funding and oversaw urban design work for nationally renown projects such as the reconstruction of John Dobson Street, Newcastle.

What or where is Almere? Almere is a city in the Netherlands developed as a New Town in the same period as Milton Keynes in the UK although to a different urban design philosophy. More recently Almere has hosted one of the largest custom build housing sites in the world at Almere Port. Almere Consulting claim no credit for the built environment of Almere, Netherlands. We do however look to the new towns and suburbs constructed in the Netherlands in this period and believe that together with the UK’s history of Garden City development they provide part of the solution for delivering housing today.
